Swiss-German mezzosoprano Michaela Unsinn received a Masters in Pedagogy and a Masters in Performance, both with Distinction, at the Zürich University of the Arts (ZHdK) with Lina Maria Åkerlund. She took part in masterclasses with Ingeborg Danz, Yvonne Naef, Kurt Widmer, and Meinaard Kraak and took part in the second Deutschen Liedakademie in Trossingen, the International Opernwerkstatt Sigriswil, the Lotte Lehmann academy in Perleberg and the International opera academy in Schwerte.

Michaela Unsinn is a very active performer in concerts of both sacred and secular music. She performed in J.S. Bach‘s «Mass in B minor» and «St. John Passion», Händel‘s «Messiah», Mendelssohn‘s «Elijah», Rossini‘s «Petite messe solennelle» und Dvořák‘s «Stabat mater». Her recital repertoire includes songs by Schumann, Schubert, Strauss, Brahms, Mahler and Wagner.

She gave her opera début as Rosina in Rossini‘s «Il barbiere di siviglia» at the Oper Schloss Hallwyl. Subsequent roles include Despina in «Cosi fan tutte» at the Festival «Murten Classics», Dorabella in the same opera with Ouverture-Opéra in Sion, «Gerechtigkeit» in Mozart‘s early piece «Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebotes» at the Lucerne Festival, and Ramiro in «La finta giardiniera» at the Zürcher Sommerfestspiele.

Since 2011 Michaela Unsinn is supported by the Friedl-Wald Stiftung in Basel and since 2012/2013 she is a scholarship award holder from the Migros Kulturprozent association.
